Welcome to the Irish Kidney Association’s National Kidney Support Centre
The Centre has been in operation since 2000. Located in the grounds of Beaumont Hospital, just 200 metres walk from the main hospital entrance, it is open all year round and provides free accommodation for all its residents.
Currently undergoing refurbishment and futureproofing works, the upgraded National Kidney Support Centre will continue to serve as a home away from home for patients and their loved ones throughout their life-long journey with kidney disease.

Redeveloping the National Kidney Support Centre
The refurbished Centre will include a multi-purpose community room, designed to host a wide range of activities such as education, meetings and creative workshops. In addition, the Centre will feature a dedicated meditation room, a counselling room, and thoughtfully designed open-plan communal kitchen, dining and living spaces.
As part of the refurbishment, a strong emphasis is being placed on environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. The upgraded Centre will incorporate state-of-the-art systems such as air-to-water heat pumps, solar panels, high-grade insulation, and grey water recycling. These improvements will reduce the environmental impact of the building while enhancing the comfort and wellbeing of all who use the facility.
For day visitors, including patients attending dialysis or outpatient clinics at Beaumont hospital, the Centre will offer a welcoming space to relax, away from a clinical hospital environment to chat to other patients and families with support from the IKA staff on site, all in the context of the warm, supportive environment the Support Centre has been known for over the years.
At its heart, the Support Centre is about Community. Whether over a quiet cup of tea or a heartfelt conversation, patients, families and carers find strength in shared experiences. These moments of empathy, support, and mutual understanding form the foundation of the IKA’s mission: to support, educate and advocate for people living with, or affected by, end stage kidney disease.
Surrounding the Support Centre is a spacious garden, a haven of calm providing a tranquil setting for all to enjoy nature and moments of quiet reflection.
The new layout of the building strikes a careful balance between communal engagement and personal privacy, ensuring the Centre meets the varied needs of kidney patients and their families. Visitors to the Support Centre will find a welcoming, supportive environment designed to promote dignity, well-being, and a strong sense of community, seven days a week.
Please Support Our National Kidney Centre!
Now that the National Kidney Support Centre on the grounds of Beaumont Hospital has been returned to the IKA, our focus is on getting it back up and running for kidney patients and their families.
A huge amount of items are required to make this happen, so a dedicated website has been launched to support the project at www.supportkidneycentre.ie.
