Volunteer With Us

Volunteerism

It sits at the heart of our work

The ethos of volunteerism is fundamental to the Irish Kidney Association, where, as a collective group, there is generosity and commitment of time and effort extended in the service of others. Without our volunteers the Association could not support patients and their families in the way we do.

The values our volunteers express through their work include...

Empathy

Volunteering is more than just giving time, it's about understanding and connecting with others. Empathy allows us to step into someone else’s shoes, to truly listen, and to offer support with kindness and compassion. Whether it’s comforting a patient or a family member, advocating for the IKA community, or simply being present, empathy transforms our efforts into meaningful change.

Support

Volunteering is built on support, lifting others up, lending a hand, and being a source of strength. Support means showing up, listening, and taking action to create a stronger, more resilient IKA community.

Hope

Volunteering is an act of hope, it’s about inspiring others, bringing light to difficult moments, and showing that kindness and compassion can create change. Every effort, no matter how small, plants a seed of hope in someone’s life, reminding them that they are not alone. Through volunteering within the IKA community, we become beacons of possibility.

Commitment

Volunteering is driven by commitment, the dedication to show up, make a difference, and standing by those in need. True commitment means staying dedicated, even through challenges, to create lasting change. Collectively we turn good intentions into real impact.

Kindness

Volunteering is rooted in kindness, the simple yet powerful act of giving without expecting anything in return. Kindness creates connection, brings comfort, and reminds others that they are not alone. Whether through a smile, a helping hand, or a listening ear, small acts of kindness can make a big difference. By choosing kindness in our organisation, we create a ripple effect that spreads hope, compassion, and positive change throughout our IKA community.
