HSE Advice on Cocooning

If you're at very high risk from coronavirus (COVID-19), you are advised to cocoon. This group includes Dialysis and Transplant patients. You should stay at home as much as possible and avoid physical contact with other people. Click to view the HSE's updated guidelines.

Barbara Gillman, Irene Cronin and Oonagh Smith, Clinical Specialist Dietitians in Renal Medicine have developed 2 resources:

-Advice for those with Chronic Kidney Disease, End Stage Kidney Disease (on dialysis) and Renal Transplants  to reduce the risk of getting COVID–19 and ways to keep yourself from getting admitted to hospital at this critical time.

-Eating on Dialysis Days.

Local authorities have set up community supports to help people who are cocooning or self-isolating during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. A number of other initiatives have also been set up to help people who are affected by measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
