We are delighted to announce that building work has commenced at the National Kidney Support Centre at Beaumont Hospital, with a fantastic team in place to lead the project.

The centre will require considerable redevelopment to bring it up to the modern standards of the Munster Kidney Support Centre, including rewiring, insulation, ensuite replacements, building sustainability and general futureproofing .

A huge amount of items are required to get the centre back up and running, so a dedicated website has been launched to support this project at www.supportkidneycentre.ie.

By visiting this website, supporters can give an item required to get the centre back up and running, from windows and washing machines, to teaspoons and toasters. We need it all and we need your help! No matter what the budget, there will be an item to suit and giving an item is quick and easy.

After giving an item, supporters will receive a thank you email from IKA and an image to share on social media and WhatsApp, to help us spread the word about the campaign.

If branches would like to get involved, there is the option to fundraise as a group to give a larger item such as a couch or bed, which would be gratefully received.

For many years, the National Kidney Centre provided a much valued ‘home from home’ and those who have availed of the centre know that it provides so much more than just a bed for the night. It’s a safe, nurturing space that enhances emotional wellbeing and plays a critical role in the overall healthcare experience.
