Tramore Apartments Newly Refurbished For 2021 Season

The Waterford Branch of the IKA is delighted to announce that the newly renovated apartments in Riverstown, Tramore received our first guests of the season on Saturday July 3rd.

The apartments have undergone quite the transformation over the past year in preparation for patients and their families. To begin, we had all internal and external walls insulated along with the attic spaces. All windows and doors were replaced and the link corridor roof was refurbished. The apartments were painted inside and out, all light fittings were replaced with LED fittings and beds, mattresses and lockers were replaced in all bedrooms. All apartments were also fitted with new black-out blinds. Our fire safety systems were upgraded and hand sanitisers were fitted in all apartments and the conservatory. New key lock boxes for ease of access were fitted. The aim of all of these measures is to provide a more enjoyable, comfortable and safe holiday destination for patients and families. Whilst recognising all the work that is completed there is a further upgrade required of the heating systems and some of the remaining furnishings, which will be worked on for next season.

The Branch wishes to acknowledge the unstinting work of Vera and Eddie Frisby as being the mainstay of the apartment experience since the properties opened. We also acknowledge the work of Frances Moynihan, her husband Joe and brother-in-law Bernard, especially for the finishing touches.

The Branch acknowledges, with thanks, that the expenditure for the works was approved by the Board members of the IKA.
